Since 1st January 1953 the Clifton Suspension Bridge has been managed and maintained by the Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust (CSBT), a not-for-profit charity. The Trust does not receive any local or national government funding but must raise monies to preserve the bridge in perpetuity to the highest possible standards. An Act of Parliament ensures that toll money collected from bridge crossings is used specifically to achieve this aim.
The Visitor Centre is funded by your donations and purchases from the shop and is staffed by a team of knowledgable volunteers from all over the world who run the till, help with stocktaking, answer visitor's questions and lead the guided tours, as well as contributing new ideas to the running of the Visitor Centre.
Volunteers receive an induction and on-the-job training and participate in events designed to provide more information in areas of interest so that they can help you with your queries and provide you with the information that you need when you visit.
If you're interested in joining the team, you can read more about what we do and download our application form (below) or you can email Kat Tudor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We're also happy to take people of all ages on Work Experience, Internships and English as a Foreign Language. These positions are subject to availibility. Whether you'd like to find out more about how the Visitor Centre works as part of a school programme, shadow us for your college or university project (heritage, leisure and tourism, PGCE, etc) or get some workplace experience while you are looking for a job, you can contact email@example.com.
