Today we met with Olly Rigby, a local author creating a new book about the formation of the Avon Gorge by giants Goram and Ghyston. Olly has comissioned some wonderful illustrations which we're hoping to include in our new exhibition, next to a giant's chair for visitors to sit on!
Our exhibition design team at Cod Steaks are hoping to recreate the rock formations of the gorge with a bridge above so as you read the story, you will actually feel as though you are a giant in the gorge!
In the meantime, don't forget to leave time to visit the Giant's Cave if you're planning a trip to see us: it's accessible through the Observatory (the old snuff mill on top of the hill) and has been accessible this way since 1837. As it's privately run, there is a small charge for entry - but the view is amazing (Bristol Museum and Art Gallery recently displayed a painting by Turner from the cave and if Turner liked it then you can be assured that it is worth the climb)!
Olly's book is due for release in mid-November: we'll bring you more information on that soon!
