Cancelled due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
At the Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust, the health and wellbeing of our visitors, volunteers and staff are our number one concern. We have been closely following the guidance of the Government, NHS and Public Health England and as doctors and scientists are now recommending that everyone avoids large social gatherings we have decided we have to close our Visitor Centre and cancel all tours until mid April in order to play our part in stopping the spread of the virus.
As a not-for-profit charity, it's hard for us to close. We want to do everything we can to support STEM Learning as we all deal with something that's never happened before. We are very sorry that we have to close our doors. We ask you for your support and patience as we navigate our way through these unprecedented times and consider different options.
Meet your guide (easy to spot in orange high-vis) at 2.00pm every Saturday and Sunday afternoon at the Clifton Toll Booth, close to Clifton Village at the Bristol end of the Bridge.
Covering the history, construction and maintenance of the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, our free tours are provided by knowledgeable volunteer guides. Tours last between 45 minutes and an hour and begin at the Clifton Toll Booth on the Bristol side of the bridge, crossing over the bridge and finishing at the Visitor Centre (free entry, donations welcome). Everyone is welcome and content is family-friendly.
Pre-booking is not required: you are welcome to simply turn up on the day. However, we are now offering booking via Eventbrite as we know it helps you to plan your itinerary for the day. There's no need to print your ticket as your guide will have a guest list with your name on.
What you need to know:
At the end of the tour, your guide may ask for donations. All money received goes toward the work of the Clifton Suspension Bridge Charitable Trust - keeping our Visitor Centre free and accessible to all and providing science and engineering activities and resources for families and schools. Thank you for your kind support.
These tours do not visit any of the 'hidden' areas of the bridge: to access the Leigh Woods Vaults you will need to book a space on a paid hard hat tour.
Bringing a large group? Private tours are available for large organised groups and coach parties. Please contact us to make arrangements before your visit.
