Leigh Woods Society Autumn Talk - The Longest Tunnel in the World

Home > Event > Leigh Woods Society Autumn Talk - The Longest Tunnel in the World

Roger Maddrell has over 40 years' worldwide professional design and construction expertise of large multi-disciplinary marine, river, dam and power station projects. One of his greatest design projects was the Eurotunnel where he was the Chief Engineer (Marine).

Roger will spend the evening covering the history of the various construction attempts, from the 1800s onwards, to build a crossing from France to the U.K. mainland resulting in the current 50km long Channel Tunnel we use today. He will discuss some of the significant challenges and setbacks, culminating in the successful linking up with the French team.
