Bristol's hugely popular, annual walking festival – Bristol Walk Fest, a celebration of walking and walks throughout the city will take place from Wednesday, 1 May to Friday, 31 May 2019. Now in its seventh successful year, Walkfest regularly attracts over 3,000 walkers from across the city and beyond. Each year there is a variety of walking events on offer. Whether you like historical tours, nature walks, exploring street art, walking sports, or you just want to get fit and enjoy some fresh air, there is something for everyone! The mostly free events are for all ages from young to old and all levels of fitness are welcome – walk distances range from less than a mile to more than ten.
On our walk, Bridging Town and Country, we embrace an engineering marvel, elegant architecture, a riverside walk and a deciduous wooded valley. We start at the Clifton Suspension Bridge Visitor Centre, traverse the famous bridge and descend Clifton’s streets to Hotwells. Crossing Cumberland Basin’s locks, we head down the gorge towpath and up into Nightingale Valley and return to the visitor centre through Leigh Woods.
