If you're making a quick stop as part of a city tour or a school trip then please pre-book time exploring our Visitor Centre!
As from August 2019, we charge £1 per person for self-guided group of 15 people or over visiting the Clifton Suspension Bridge Visitor Centre. This is a compulsory payment. When you make your booking you will agree a time slot which helps us to make sure that there are no other large groups also expected at the same time. You will be issued with a voucher which you must print off and present to the reception desk upon arrival. This helps us to manage crowds and make sure that everyone is able to enjoy the Bridge.
Why we have an entry fee
The Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust is a registered charity (205658). The Visitor Centre does not get any income from the bridge tolls, as this is used for maintenance only. To enable the Visitor Centre to remain open to the public, we do ask large self-guided groups to pay an entry fee. Payment can be made by cash, card or cheque (made payable to ‘Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust’) - or we can invoice you for the full amount (including VAT).
We are able to provide a short summary of the history of the bridge in the following languages:
Copies of the language sheets are accessible in our Visitor Centre and can be purchased for 10 pence each.
Additionally, we have fuller histories available for visitors to read in French, Italian, Afrikaans, Spanish and Finnish. Please ask at the desk or contact us in advance if you wish to use one during your visit. These histories are currently under development and should be avilable in more languages soon.
