Hard Hat Tours of the vaulted chambers inside the Leigh Woods Vaults occur on selected dates between Easter and October each year. Pre-booking is essential. See our What's On pages for tour availability and booking information.

Smartphone users can try our audio trail: look for the signs on the city side of the bridge between the towers and the bridge deck. Scan a QR code or enter a web address to hear three different tracks which will tell you about the history of the bridge and the local area.

(We'd like to thank SAM FM for their help and support with the development of this trail. Sam FM is the only station in Bristol that plays what it wants from the 80’s, 90’s and now. They LOVE Bristol, especially the Clifton Suspension Bridge which they can see from their studios. Catch our voiceover star Downsy on the Sports show (or leading guided tours at the Bridge between Easter and October.)

The bridge illuminations can be seen each night - beginning half an hour before sunset and fnishing at midnight. The current illuminations were installed in 2005/06.  They provide an award-winning display, and have been designed to reduce energy consumption and minimise light pollution and bulb replacement.  There are 2796 low power Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), expected to last for around 15 years. With all the other fittings, there are a total of 3072 bulbs on the bridge.
